A source within Zamalek Club revealed the truth behind rumors circulating about a crisis among the team's goalkeepers following their match against AS Port in the CAF Champions League.
Zamalek had yesterday defeated their Djiboutian counterpart AS Port by two goals to one in the first leg of the preliminary round of the CAF Champions League.

A source at Zamalek Club denied the rumors regarding disputes among the first-team football goalkeepers, confirming that there is no truth to claims that goalkeeper Mohamed Awad refused the idea of sitting on the bench as a substitute for Mohamed Sobhi in yesterday's match against AS Port, the Djiboutian champion, in the first leg of the CAF Champions League preliminary round.
The source told Batootat that the technical staff had informed Mehdi Soliman and Mohamed Awad prior to joining the training camp that they would be excluded from the match squad, especially since this was an opportunity to rotate among goalkeepers, allowing Mohamed Sobhi to participate after missing the previous three league matches, as well as giving rising goalkeeper Omar Abdel Aziz a chance to be included in the match list.
The source clarified that both Awad and Mehdi Soliman accepted the decision to be excluded from the squad and were present at Cairo International Stadium yesterday to support the team during the match.
