Al Ahly Club's negotiations with its counterpart Ceramica Cleopatra regarding the transfer of Slovenian Nits Gradishar during the current summer mercato witnessed some points of disagreement.
Moroccan Hussein Amouta, Al Ahly's new technical director, is currently working on shaping his squad for the new 2026/2027 season by identifying deals and offloading unwanted players.
In this regard, Hussein Amouta has settled his stance on Slovenian striker Nits Gradishar's stay after informing the football administration of his desire for the player's departure and to discuss any offers for him this summer.
The secret behind the stalled Al Ahly and Ceramica negotiations over Gradishar
An Al Ahly club source clarified during statements to Yalla Koura the reasons for the disagreement between Al Ahly and its counterpart Ceramica Cleopatra over the details of the Slovenian striker's transfer.
The source said: "Al Ahly does not want to pay more than 30% of Gradishar's salary, which is the same percentage that Ceramica officials want to pay."
He added: "Ceramica wants to include a buy option clause for the player, which Al Ahly rejects especially after the player excelled in training over the past period."
The source noted during his statements: "Al Ahly will certainly market Gradishar, and Ceramica remains the closest to signing him given the seriousness of the negotiations."
It is worth noting Amouta's decision despite the distinguished levels Gradishar showed during preparations for the new season, most recently in the friendly match against Cairo's Al Nasr, which ended with Al Ahly winning 5-1.
Gradishar succeeded in scoring two goals during that friendly, confirming his technical and physical readiness ahead of the 2026/2027 season launch, yet Hussein Amouta believes he needs to gain more experience.
Gradishar had transferred to Hungarian club Újpest last January (during the winter transfer window) on a six-month loan from Al Ahly.
