External press reports revealed that Mounsef Bakr, the Croatian Dynamo Zagreb player, has been excluded from his team's calculations ahead of his transfer to Al Ahly in the coming period.
Croatian newspaper Germanijak reported that Dynamo Zagreb coach Mario Kovacevic will not rely on Mounsef Bakr for the second leg of the UEFA Champions League second qualifying round against Swiss side Thun.
Dynamo Zagreb will face Thun on Tuesday evening at 8pm at Maksimir Stadium in the second leg of the UEFA Champions League second qualifying round.
The Algerian Bakr did not feature in the first leg in Switzerland, which ended 1-1, despite being named in the squad and traveling to Thun, where he remained on the bench.
The report indicated that the reason for Bakr's exclusion from Dynamo Zagreb's technical staff's plans is that his transfer to Al Ahly was agreed upon on the eve of the previous match, in addition to the Croatian club being obliged to pay 100,000 euros to his former club, New York City, should he feature in any future UEFA Champions League match.
The newspaper added: "Dynamo Zagreb's management has clearly realized that Mounsef Bakr is no longer in their plans, so why pay hefty bonuses and settle 100,000 euros with New York City?"
It explained that the 25-year-old player trained separately from the team, which is a clear indication of his exclusion from Tuesday's lineup, even though he has not yet officially left Dynamo Zagreb.
It continued: "Dynamo and Al Ahly have agreed on all details of Bakr's transfer to Al Ahly, estimated at more than 3.5 million euros, but the final agreement between the player and the new club is still pending."
It added: "Bakr has not yet signed his contract with Al Ahly, and we know that commercial transactions with clubs in that part of the world take longer and are often delayed."
The newspaper concluded: "Therefore, we do not expect any major changes or anything unexpected in the deal, and Bakr is expected to join the Egyptian giants in the coming days and will no longer play for Dynamo Zagreb."
