The English Football Association has directed an accusation against Martin Sherif, Everton Club striker, of committing violations related to betting rules, after suspecting that the player placed 61 bets on football matches during a period that extended for more than a year.
According to Reuters, Sherif, who is 20 years old, is accused of violating the English Association's regulations, after the alleged bets were placed during the period between November 20, 2024, and February 12, 2026.
Sherif has not participated with Everton's first team yet, and he spent the past season on loan to Rotherham United and Port Vale clubs, which are active in the English Third Division League.
The English Association clarified in a statement that the player has a deadline until Monday, August 17, to submit his response to the accusations directed at him.
Sherif comes as the latest name in a series of players who faced accusations related to breaching betting regulations in English football, after the striker Ivan Toney was previously suspended for eight months in 2023, following his conviction of committing 232 violations of the English Association's rules regarding betting.
