Essam Abdel Fattah, the head of the referees committee at the Egyptian Football Association, revealed his stance on assigning the Al Ahly vs. Al Zamalek match in the Egyptian Premier League title race to an Egyptian referee.
Abdel Fattah said in an interview with the "On Target" program broadcast on "On Sport" channel: "First, there must be trust in Egyptian refereeing."
He added: "At the current time, there is unfair criticism of refereeing and incorrect talk about the referees, so it is difficult to assign the Al Ahly vs. Al Zamalek match to an Egyptian referee."
He concluded: "From today, we will not remain silent on any incorrect talk against refereeing, whether from within the committee or outside it; it will be referred to the disciplinary committee."
It is worth noting that the Al Ahly vs. Al Zamalek match is scheduled to take place in the sixth round of the Egyptian Premier League on October 11, 2026.
