Essam Abdel Fattah, head of the Referees Committee, revealed his policy for the upcoming phase, emphasizing the application of the reward and punishment principle.
Essam Abdel Fattah assumed the presidency of the Referees Committee after the departure of Colombian Oscar Ruiz.
Abdel Fattah said in statements via the official website of the Egyptian Football Association that the upcoming phase will witness intensive preparation for the referees before the start of the new season.
He added that the selection of refereeing crews will be according to precise technical and physical criteria, ensuring that only the best are pushed to manage league matches.
How to evaluate referees
He continued that the Referees Committee will rely in evaluating referees on technical performance, physical fitness, and refereeing culture, in addition to performance reports from the past season, to select the elements most ready to manage the new season's matches.
Abdel Fattah continued his statements that the camps will include explaining the latest amendments to the laws of the game, in addition to coordination with the Competitions Committee regarding a number of organizational amendments, which contributes to unifying the vision before the start of competitions, stressing that discipline will be the basic pillar for the success of the system.
Big surprise for referees
He confirmed that the Egyptian Football Association, headed by Hani Abu Rida, is preparing a big surprise for the referees, which will be announced during the camps, as part of the plan to develop the refereeing system.
Regarding the criteria for selecting referees for matches, Essam Abdel Fattah explained that the best will get the opportunity, while working to expand the base of ready referees to avoid repeating the assignment of matches to the same referees, stressing the necessity of achieving justice in managing matches for all clubs.
Any referee who makes a mistake will be held accountable
Regarding the principle of reward and punishment, the head of the Referees Committee said: "Any referee who makes a mistake will be held accountable, and that will be clear to everyone."
He continued: "We will work on analyzing refereeing cases scientifically and announcing them to the public periodically, in support of the principle of transparency and developing refereeing performance."
