English FA breaks silence on Manchester City conviction

Via Yallakora

The English Football Association has broken its silence regarding the independent commission's decision to find Manchester City guilty of breaching Premier League financial rules.

In an official statement, the FA said: "The independent commission's decision has serious implications for the integrity of the game."

It added: "We are carefully considering the decision and its consequences, and will take appropriate action. Given that proceedings between the Premier League and Manchester City are ongoing, we do not intend to comment further at this stage; however, we will continue to monitor developments closely."

The FA's statement came after the Premier League announced that Manchester City had been found guilty on all charges related to financial breaches in a case that has taken years to conclude.

Details of the accusations against Manchester City

The allegations span a nine-year period from 2009 to 2018 and concern a number of commercial transactions entered into by the club with its sponsors during that time.

Manchester City was accused of entering into deals described as "sham" with several sponsors, alongside allegations of artificially inflating revenue by more than £900 million to reduce costs and comply with financial rules.

Manchester City is expected to appeal the independent commission's findings, with the club having until Friday, October 2nd, to decide whether to lodge an appeal.
