Emad El-Nahas has become the first manager to leave the Egyptian Premier League during the current 2026-2027 season, following the end of his tenure with El Masry Port Said and the appointment of Ahmed Sami as his successor.
El Masry has played three matches in the Egyptian Premier League this season, collecting six points. They secured a 1-0 victory over Smouha in the first round, followed by a 3-2 win against El-Mokawloon El-Arab in the second round, before suffering a clean-sheet defeat to Pyramids in the third round.
Behind the scenes of Emad El-Nahas's departure
The board of directors of El Masry Port Said Club, led by Kamel Abu Ali, decided to part ways with Emad El-Nahas from his position as head coach and appoint Ahmed Sami in his place, due to dissatisfaction with the team's performance in its first three matches.
"Yalla Kora" learned that Kamel Abu Ali made the decision to dismiss Emad El-Nahas after El Masry's match against El-Mokawloon El-Arab in the second round of the league. Although the team won 3-2, the performance was not convincing to the club president, especially since the match was played at El Masry's home ground.
Kamel Abu Ali informed the members of El Masry's board of directors that he was "shocked" by the team's level, given the strong signings the club made during the summer transfer window, in addition to the team possessing a distinguished squad. He emphasized the necessity of making changes to the technical staff.
Following El Masry's defeat to Pyramids in the third round, Kamel Abu Ali informed the board members of his decision to dismiss Emad El-Nahas. He also revealed that he had begun negotiations with a new head coach, before El-Nahas was notified of the decision to leave on the morning of yesterday, Tuesday.
Kamel Abu Ali contacted Ahmed Sami, who enjoys the club president's trust, and informed him that he would be taking over as El Masry's head coach. This was followed by a meeting yesterday, Tuesday, during which all details were agreed upon and contracts were signed, along with finalizing the composition of the new technical staff.
Ahmed Sami is scheduled to lead El Masry's training session today, Wednesday, in preparation for the match against Petrojet on September 7, as part of the Egyptian Premier League.
