The transfer deal for Brazilian midfielder Ederson, the star of Italian Atalanta, to Manchester United collapsed, despite the two clubs previously reaching a full agreement on the value of the deal.
Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, a specialist in transfer news, confirmed that the deal was definitively canceled after Manchester United informed Atalanta club of not completing the contracting procedures with the player.
Romano wrote on his "X" platform account: "Ederson's transfer to Manchester United is over, and the deal collapsed after Manchester United informed Atalanta club of its decision", without revealing the reason.
He added that Atalanta confirms that the player enjoys full physical fitness at 100%, and will welcome his return to the team's ranks, pointing out that Manchester United changed its plans in the transfer market, and therefore Ederson will not join the English club.
The two clubs had reached an agreement stipulating the transfer of the Brazilian international to "Old Trafford" for about 39 million pounds sterling, but the deal stopped in its final stages, leading Manchester United to back out of completing it.
According to reports, Manchester United will turn its attention to other targets to strengthen the midfield, at a time when Brazilian Andre Santos is close to becoming the first midfielder to join the team this summer.
