Real Betis defeated their hosts, Valencia, 1-0 in the match that brought the two teams together on Tuesday evening, as part of the second round of the Spanish La Liga.

The match, held at the Mestalla Stadium, was of a good standard, with both teams sharing control of the game, though Real Betis had a slight edge.

Alyou Dieng, the star of Valencia, started the match on the bench before the Malian midfielder came on in the 87th minute, replacing his teammate Guido Rodríguez.

Real Betis managed to score the winning goal in the 83rd minute, after a cross that Pablo García met with a powerful left-footed shot into the near corner of the goal.

Omar Sadiq, Valencia's striker, nearly equalized for the team in the 85th minute after successfully dribbling past Real Betis's defense and then firing a powerful shot that the goalkeeper parried with his body.

Real Betis had started their La Liga campaign this season with a 1-0 win over Real Sociedad, while Valencia drew 0-0 with their hosts, Celta Vigo.

It is worth noting that Alyou Dieng, who is 28 years old, joined Valencia during the ongoing summer transfer window on a free transfer after his contract with his previous club, Al Ahly, expired.

With this result, Real Betis's points total rises to six, placing them in second place in the Spanish La Liga standings, while Valencia's points remain at one, keeping them in 15th place.
