Reports revealed that French winger Moussa Diaby, who plays for Saudi club Al-Ittihad, did not accompany the team’s delegation departing for Dammam to face Al-Qadsiah in the Saudi Professional League.
Al-Ittihad’s match against Al-Qadsiah is scheduled for 9:00 PM tomorrow, Friday, as part of the second round of the 2026/2027 Saudi Professional League.
Moussa Diaby pressures Al-Ittihad to leave
According to the newspaper “Asharq Al-Awsat,” this is the second match in which the Frenchman Moussa Diaby has been absent, following the recent encounter with Al-Najma in the Saudi King’s Cup.
Moussa Diaby’s rebellion coincides with negotiations with German club Bayer Leverkusen, who are keen on signing the player before the current summer transfer window closes.
“Asharq Al-Awsat”’s report indicated the possibility of decisive developments in the coming days, amid expectations that the French winger will finally leave.
Diaby joined Al-Ittihad from Aston Villa in the summer of 2024, after a successful stint in the English Premier League following his previous standout performances with German club Bayer Leverkusen.
The French player has made 70 appearances for Al-Ittihad across all competitions, scoring 11 goals and providing 28 assists.
In the Saudi Professional League, Diaby has played 55 matches, scoring 9 goals and providing 21 assists, while the 2025-2026 season saw him score 4 goals and create 7 others in 31 appearances.
