Ahmed Masad, a member of the medical committee of the Egyptian delegation at the 2026 Mediterranean Games, revealed details about the health condition of weightlifter Noura Essam after she fell during the women's 61 kg competition.
The medical committee member confirmed that Noura Essam's condition is very reassuring and that she is not suffering from any health issues.
He added that Noura Essam experienced a momentary drop in blood circulation, which is common in some sports such as weightlifting. It is temporary for the athlete, lasting only between 5 to 10 seconds, and there is no cause for concern in such cases.
He continued by stating that immediately after the Egyptian weightlifter Noura Essam fell, her vital signs were checked, including breathing, blood pressure, and heart rate, and it was confirmed that her health condition was safe.
The medical committee member of the Egyptian delegation at the 2026 Mediterranean Games clarified that after the end of her competition, Noura Essam will be present in the spectator stands today to support her teammates in the national team during the day's competitions.
So far, the Pharaohs have won 40 medals at the Mediterranean Games, placing Egypt in the race with the leading countries and keeping it at the top of Arab nations with 13 gold, 13 silver, and 14 bronze medals.
Egypt ranks sixth in the list of countries with the most medals in the history of the Mediterranean Games, with a total of 620 medals, comprising 156 gold, 209 silver, and 255 bronze.
