Liverpool fell into the trap of a friendly defeat against their guest Monaco, 2-3, in the match held on the pitch of Anfield Stadium, as part of both teams' preparations for the new 2026-2027 season.

Liverpool took the lead early in the 16th minute with a low shot by striker Alexander Isak, assisted by Ryan Gravenberch.

Isak contributed again to the second goal after confusion in Monaco's defense in the 29th minute, which was awarded to his German teammate Florian Wirtz after he shot the ball along with his Swedish teammate, who was the last to touch it.

Monaco reduced the deficit before the end of the first half from a penalty scored by Alexander Golovin.

Monaco equalized through Mika Peretz in the 56th minute of the match, before Paris Baroner snatched the win for Monaco in the 88th minute of the game.
