Luis de la Fuente, coach of the Spanish national team, spoke after winning the 2026 World Cup and defeating the Argentine national team with a clean goal.
De la Fuente said in statements published by the British "BBC": "I feel great pride, pride in this generation of football players who grew up believing in this philosophy and remained loyal to it and did their utmost".
He added: "They represent an ideal model for the team, the group and the family, a group of wonderful players who delivered an exceptional performance, I feel immense pride in accompanying them on this journey, being with them on this path is a great honor for me".
He continued: "I really can't describe my feelings accurately, but all I can say is that it was worth all this effort, of course wonderful feelings overwhelm me at this moment, after following the events from my position as a coach".

He continued: "I have spoken a lot with the players who told me, coach, we have won everything and this is really wonderful, this generation of players is a role model for Spanish sport and for Spanish youth, we are much stronger when we unite and for this reason we do not forget anyone".
He resumed: "Of course we would have liked to settle the match earlier, but Martinez's saves stopped us, we tried a lot to score without success but this is a World Cup final match, even when playing against ten players in the final minutes, we had to suffer and yet we love suffering and I repeat, we were prepared for all scenarios".
De la Fuente mentioned: "We are world champions, I feel happy and proud of the players, we have turned a very important page and achieved victory on all levels, in addition this team has a promising future and we are already thinking about the next step".
Regarding the memories, De la Fuente said: "I think of my father and my brother, I feel proud to be Spanish and to continue moving forward on this path".
He concluded: "We really played a wonderful match, achieving victory requires hard work and for this reason it must be appreciated and valued when achieved".
