Egyptian clubs are entitled to participate with two seats in the African Champions League, and two other seats in the Confederation Cup.

The past period witnessed Moroccan reports that spoke of CAF's rejection of the request submitted by the Egyptian Football Association to increase the number of participating teams in the two continental competitions.

In contrast, "Yalla Koura", about a week ago, obtained a response from an official inside the Football Association, in which he confirmed that no response had been received from "CAF", whether approval or rejection.

New development and decision date

"Yalla Koura" learned, from its own sources, today, Sunday, that the final decision regarding this file will be issued on July 22 of this month, as a meeting is scheduled to be held in the city of Johannesburg in South Africa.

Moroccan press sources had indicated that the trend is towards increasing the number of seats for participating teams in the African Champions League, while keeping the number of Confederation seats unchanged.

It is scheduled that the duo Zamalek and Pyramids will represent Egypt in the African Champions League, after they occupied the first and second places in the ranking.

In contrast, Al-Ahly will participate in the Confederation Cup, after finishing third, alongside Zed team, runner-up in the Egyptian Cup, who lost to Pyramids in the final match.

It is worth noting that Mamelodi Sundowns team won the title of the previous edition of the African Champions League, after defeating the Moroccan Royal Army in the final match.

In contrast, the Algerian capital's Union was crowned with the Confederation title at the expense of Zamalek, on penalties.
