Countdown to Koundé's departure?.. Barcelona close to Spain star

Via Kooora

Barcelona has begun its moves in anticipation of reshaping its defensive line, as the Catalan club opened communication channels with one of the most prominent options in the English Premier League, in preparation for a possible departure of Jules Kounde.

The Metro website reported, citing Spanish reports, that Barcelona contacted the entourage of Pedro Porro, Tottenham's right-back, to explore the possibility of signing him during the summer transfer window, amid Arsenal's interest in signing Kounde.

Journalist Gerard Romero said via his YouTube channel that Barcelona has strongly begun contacts with Porro's entourage in recent days, having made an initial offer to his agents.

However, Kounde has not yet shown any desire to leave Barcelona, while his future remains open, which prompted the club to move early in anticipation of any developments.

Porro is 26 years old and has delivered standout performances with Tottenham, while also featuring as a starter in most of Spain's matches on their path to winning the most recent World Cup.

The Spanish right-back is under contract with Tottenham until 2031, after renewing his deal last June, and enjoys the trust of manager Roberto De Zerbi, who described him as an important player capable of influencing matches both defensively and offensively.

Barcelona's interest in Porro stems from his ability to fill multiple roles in the defensive line, which aligns with the team's needs in the event of Kounde's departure.
