ZED started its journey in African competitions with a 4-0 victory over AS CDE-SP de Djibouti in the first preliminary round of the Confederation Cup.
Ahmed El-Saghir, Ahmed Atef, Abdelrahman El-Banoubi, and Ahmed Adel scored ZED's four goals.
The match was held at Cairo International Stadium, and the return leg will take place next Saturday at the same venue to decide the qualifier.
ZED has secured a strong foothold in the second preliminary round and is nearing a clash with Tanzania's Azam FC in the next stage.
ZED took the lead in the 21st minute through Ahmed El-Saghir, who scored with a powerful shot from outside the penalty area.

Just one minute before halftime, Ahmed Atef doubled ZED's lead with the second goal, assisted by Mohamed Ibrahim.
The home team waited until the final minutes of the second half to extend their lead and seal the match.
In the 88th minute, Abdelrahman El-Banoubi converted Mostafa Saad's cross with a controlled finish inside the box, making the score 3-0.
The score then became 4-0 through Ahmed Adel, who shot the ball to the goalkeeper's left in the 90+1 minute.
The two teams will meet again next Saturday at Cairo International Stadium to decide qualification for the next round.
