Mostafa Shobeir, Al-Ahly's goalkeeper, spoke about participating in the World Cup with the Egyptian national team and saving two penalty kicks.
Shobeir delivered an outstanding performance with Egypt during the World Cup tournament, managing to save two penalty kicks, one of which came against Lionel Messi in the match versus Argentina.
In statements via Al-Ahly's official page, Mostafa Shobeir said: "It is natural for the pressure this season to be significant because last season was difficult, and I do not wish to recall it. The start of the league this season has been excellent, and we aim to build upon it. Our goal is to win all trophies, as this is what is expected at Al-Ahly, and it is the right of our fans over the players."
He added: "Success lies in the entire team being in good form. There are periods when luck may be absent, but there are foundations we follow, and this is what happens among the players."
He clarified: "My relationship with El-Shenawy is good; there is connectivity and understanding between us that requires only a glance, without needing words. Our goal is to help the team, and Al-Ahly supports me in joining the Egyptian national team."
He pointed out: "I was very happy after saving two penalty kicks in the World Cup. Saving a penalty against Messi did not make a difference to me personally; rather, I was delighted because I am among the few goalkeepers who saved two penalties in a single World Cup edition."
He continued: "I have become accustomed to major tournaments with Al-Ahly. I faced Messi before and participated in big competitions. Seeing Neuer when I was 20 years old was a huge moment, and facing Barcelona in the Joan Gamper Trophy, even though it was a friendly, was something very significant."
He further stated: "I hope all players in the youth sector focus during training and take the necessary steps. Some players are already with us and are extremely talented. Hamza Abdel Karim professionally joined Barcelona wonderfully and scored in his debut; we are all proud of him."
He concluded: "Al-Ahly's fans are our primary supporters. We are always delighted to see the stands full, and we want every match to be filled just like what happens in African competitions."
