The Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo mentioned that Barcelona had reached a final agreement with one of the organizers in Morocco to play a friendly match against a local team, but the club preferred to postpone the official announcement, in light of the repercussions of the Moroccan migration crisis to the city of Ceuta.
The report explained that Barcelona's management is closely monitoring the situation, especially in light of the sensitive scenes witnessed on the city's coasts, accompanied by large numbers of migrants, indicating that the club may back down from holding the match if the crisis worsens in the coming days.
The anticipated confrontation in Tangier represented an important station in Barcelona's preparation program, as it was scheduled to be held just one week before the start of the team's journey in the Spanish League, scheduled on August 23 against Elche, and a few days before the match against Al-Ahly, in the Joan Gamper Cup.
