Scottish club Celtic announced the signing of Egyptian national team player Haitham Hassan, coming from Spanish team Real Oviedo, as part of strengthening its squad during the ongoing summer transfer window.

A statement from Celtic read: "The club is pleased to announce the signing of Egyptian international winger Haitham Hassan from Real Oviedo, on a contract extending for four years with an option to extend for an additional year".

The club added in its statement that the player's transfer to Celtic is currently dependent on obtaining the international clearance in order to participate in official matches and competitions.

The 24-year-old Haitham Hassan, who shone with the Egyptian national team during the last World Cup, has become the latest addition to the squad of Celtic's manager Martin O'Neill.

The right winger, who was born in France, will wear the number 23 shirt with the Scottish league champions in the coming period.

Hassan began his professional career with Châteauroux before moving to Spain in 2020 to join Villarreal, then Miranda and Sporting Gijón, before joining Real Oviedo in the summer of 2024.

Haitham Hassan played a key role in Real Oviedo's promotion to the Spanish La Liga during his first season with the club, where he regularly featured in the team's matches in La Liga last season.

Celtic's statement concluded: "After completing his transfer to the team, the winger looks forward to starting a new chapter in his football career with the club".
