Al Ahly will face ZED at Cairo International Stadium to conclude the second round.
Taher scored Al Ahly's second goal in the 61st minute following a cross by Ashraf Bencharki, but the goal was initially disallowed for offside.
Hussein Ammouta, Al Ahly's head coach, made a substitution bringing on Moroccan player Sofiane Benjdida to replace Taher.
Mohamed Maarouf awaited the VAR decision, which confirmed the goal's validity and the absence of offside at the start of the play; the referee officially awarded the goal in the 65th minute.
Taher has now scored 29 goals in the league across 196 matches, marking his tenth consecutive season finding the net in the competition while wearing the jerseys of Al Ahly and previously El Mokawloon.
This marks Taher's second goal against ZED in league competition.
