Edinson Cavani officially announced his departure from Boca Juniors via a video he posted today, Thursday, on his social media accounts, without revealing his decision regarding retirement.

Argentine press reports had revealed two weeks ago the club's intention to terminate the Uruguayan striker's contract, in light of his suffering from recurring injuries that kept him off the pitch for about 4 months.
Cavani said in a video clip announcing his departure: "I will never regret the decision to come here and fulfill my desire to play in the Boca shirt. I went through difficult moments that I did not imagine, and they did not allow me to leave the mark I wished for with this great club."

He continued, "When I got to know Boca and everything surrounding it, I felt that this life would give me the motivation to prepare and give 100% in every match."
Cavani joined Boca 3 years ago and participated in 81 matches, during which he scored 28 goals, but he left the team without winning any title, amidst the clear impact of injuries on his career with the club.
It is noteworthy that Cavani previously excelled with Paris Saint-Germain and is considered one of the most prominent scorers in the history of the Uruguay national team, without having announced his next destination yet after leaving Boca.
