Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher spoke about the move of Egyptian star Mohamed Salah, the Reds' former top scorer and captain of the Egyptian national team, to the Turkish club Trabzonspor.
Last March, Liverpool announced Mohamed Salah's departure after a historic career at Anfield, during which the Egyptian star won nine titles, most notably two English Premier League titles and the UEFA Champions League.
In recent days, the curtain has fallen on Mohamed Salah's new destination after leaving Liverpool, following links to a move to Saudi club Al-Ittihad and Major League Soccer, before he ultimately signed for Turkish club Trabzonspor.
The Turkish club succeeded in signing the 34-year-old, who agreed to a two-year deal worth 17 million euros per year (including add-ons), in addition to receiving 20% of shirt sales revenue.
Yallakora contacted former Liverpool star Jamie Carragher to discuss Salah's new move and his transfer to Trabzonspor.
Saving his salary
Carragher initially commented on Salah's departure from Liverpool, saying: "Salah's departure from Liverpool is a good thing for the club in order to save his huge salary."
Carragher believes that Salah's huge salary will help Liverpool make new signings, especially since the Egypt captain was earning nearly 400,000 pounds sterling per week.
Salah received this salary after the club renewed "Mo's" contract in 2025 for two seasons, but both parties reached a final agreement not to complete the contract after just one season.
Inter Miami offer
During his conversation with Yallakora, Carragher revealed that negotiations took place between Inter Miami and Mohamed Salah's representatives to secure his services this summer, but the deal did not materialize.
According to the former Liverpool star, the reason was the huge financial demands made by Salah, which is why his destination changed to the Turkish league.
Carragher added that Trabzonspor fans welcomed Salah like a "hero," as he put it, confirming that the player will add value to his new team and the Turkish league.
Replacing Salah
Regarding his view on replacing Salah in the English team, Carragher believes Liverpool has the resources within the squad to compensate for the Egyptian star.
Carragher said: "Liverpool does not need a player to replace Salah; the solution comes from the team itself and the manager, so I believe the club needs a signing to replace him."
He concluded: "Salah was a loyal player to Liverpool despite the recent crises at the end of his career there, yet he left behind success with the team."
