Former Liverpool star Jamie Carragher believes that signing French player Bradley Barcola is not enough to compensate for the departure of Egyptian star Mohamed Salah from the team's ranks, pointing out that the Paris Saint-Germain player does not occupy the same position.
Media reports recently confirmed that Liverpool is seeking to sign Barcola during the summer transfer window, as the English club sees the Paris Saint-Germain winger as one of the most prominent options to strengthen the attacking line after Salah's departure at the end of the previous season.
Carragher said in a post on his account on the "X" platform about the possibility of Barcola moving to Liverpool, and whether Barcola is a suitable alternative to the Egyptian star: "No, he plays on the opposite side."
The former Liverpool star explained that the team already has several options capable of playing on the left wing, while the greater need remains to sign a player who excels in occupying the right wing, the position in which Salah has excelled for many years.
Carragher, who now works as an analyst for the British "Sky Sports" network, concluded: "Liverpool currently has 3 players who can play from the left side, namely Rio Ngumoha, Cody Gakpo, and Florian Wirtz, and there is no one who plays from the right side."
