The Confederation of African Football "CAF" announced the host countries for the upcoming African tournaments, stressing work to develop current competitions and create new ones that contribute to elevating football across the African continent.

"CAF" confirmed via its official website that the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations will be held in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda, from 19 June to 17 July 2027, with qualifiers beginning in September.

The African Confederation clarified that the African Super Cup match will be held in Tshwane, South Africa, between Mamelodi Sundowns, the Champions League winners, and USM Alger, the Confederation Cup holders, on Sunday, 8 November 2026.

"CAF" stressed that significant progress has been made in youth competitions, noting that Ghana will host the Africa Cup of Nations under-20 in February and March 2027, while Morocco will host the under-17 edition in April and May.

The African Confederation announced its decision to award Egypt the hosting of the Africa Cup of Nations under-23, the qualifier for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.

"CAF" explained that it is studying the possibility of launching a new under-17 women's Africa Cup of Nations, with the aim of holding the competition next year provided the necessary sporting and organisational requirements are met. The proposed tournament would boost the Confederation's investment in women's football and provide another important competitive pathway for young female players across the continent.

"CAF" indicated that progress has been made on the proposed African Nations League, confirming that the competition format was discussed by the Executive Committee. The project forms part of the Confederation's broader strategy to provide more meaningful and commercially attractive international football for its member associations.

At club level, the draw for the preliminary rounds of the 2026-2027 CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup has been completed, giving participating clubs a clear roadmap for the new continental season. The first preliminary round of both competitions will run from 4 to 6 September 2026, with return legs scheduled for 11 to 13 September.

"CAF" concluded by noting that providing greater clarity on dates and host countries allows member associations to plan more effectively, offers players clearer competitive pathways, and gives broadcasters, sponsors and fans greater visibility of the Confederation's flagship events.
