While Egypt is represented in the Confederation by Al-Ahly, third in the league, and ZED, runner-up in the Egyptian Cup.
The winner of the African Champions League receives a cash prize of 6 million dollars, while the Confederation champion receives 4 million dollars.
Clubs that exit the tournament from the preliminary round receive a bonus of 100 thousand dollars.
Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa is the defending champion of the Champions League, while the Algerian Capital Union is the defending champion of the Confederation.
