Al-Ahly extended their lead against ZED with a second goal thanks to VAR intervention in the match played on Friday evening in the Premier League competition.
The match between Al-Ahly and ZED took place at Cairo International Stadium as part of the second round of the Premier League.
In the 61st minute, Al-Ahly scored a second goal through Taher Mohamed Taher, but the assistant referee raised the offside flag against Ahmed Sayed Zizo.
VAR intervened to overturn the assistant referee's decision and award the second goal to Al-Ahly, amid protests from ZED players.
Al-Ahly had scored their first goal in the 21st minute through Ashraf Bencharki.
Al-Ahly had opened their Premier League campaign with an exciting comeback victory against Sharqia Enppi by a score of 3-2, while ZED drew goalless with Wadi Degla.
