The Brazilian national team is set to face its Norwegian counterpart in an anticipated match this Sunday evening, as part of the round of 16 of the 2026 World Cup, seeking to achieve its first victory in its World Cup encounters against the Scandinavian team.
The match holds historical significance for the Seleção, as a win would grant Brazil its first World Cup victory over Norway, ending its presence on the list of teams Brazil has never beaten in the World Cup, which also includes Hungary and Portugal.
On the other hand, the Norwegian team enters the match with the ambition of maintaining its impressive record against Brazil, relying on the brilliance of its star Erling Haaland, who ranks third in the 2026 World Cup top scorers with five goals.
The two teams have met only once before in the World Cup finals, in the 1998 France edition, when the Norwegian team achieved a historic 2-1 victory, having turned a deficit into a win in the third round of the group stage.
In terms of direct encounters outside the World Cup, the two teams have faced each other in three friendly matches, two of which ended in a draw, while Brazil won the third match, leaving the Norwegian team without any loss against the "Seleção" in their World Cup history.
Date of the Brazil vs Norway match
The match between the two sides is scheduled for today, Sunday, at 11:00 PM Cairo time.
