Al Ahly Club is preparing for the new 2026-2027 season, under the leadership of Moroccan coach Hussein Amouta, who is seeking to return the Red Team to the podium of local and continental titles and reconcile with the fans of the Red Castle, after losing the Egyptian League title and an early exit from the quarter-finals of the African Champions League in the previous season.
Al Ahly Club management and those responsible for the football team continue to work on closing several files that have not been resolved yet within the walls of the Red Castle.
The file of renewing contracts for the international quartet—Mustafa Shobier, Yasser Ibrahim, Emam Ashour, and Mohamed Hany—tops the Red Castle’s priorities, after an offer was made to extend their contracts following the end of Egypt’s national team participation in the 2026 World Cup finals.
The players requested an additional grace period to determine their stance on Al Ahly’s contract extension offer, which the Red Castle officials approved.
At the same time, Al Ahly is working on resolving the departures file, as several players have fallen out of the technical staff’s plans, most notably: Mohamed Sherif, Ashraf Dari, Reda Slim, and Mohamed El-Daoudi Christo.
Al Ahly has not officially announced the departure of any player, but is negotiating with them for exits either on loan, permanent sale, or reaching a settlement given the extension of some players’ contracts.
The Red Team also wishes to conclude a new deal by signing a center-back to bolster the defensive line after conceding goals in the previous season.
Al Ahly had been linked with signing Fenerbahçe defender Omar Fayed, as a source confirmed to Yalla Koura that the Red Team inquired about his situation but has not yet made an official offer to sign him.
