Benfica has completed the signing of Moroccan player Sofiane El Karouani from Saudi club Al-Qadsiah.

El Karouani, formerly of Dutch club Utrecht, returns to Europe after a brief stint with Al-Qadsiah.
In statements to Benfica's official channel, El Karouani said: "It's a wonderful feeling; I'm very happy to be here and can't wait to get started. I was given the opportunity to return to Europe, and Benfica is one of the biggest clubs in Europe, so I didn't need to think twice."
The Moroccan player added: "I look forward to competing for titles, winning trophies, and delivering a strong season with Benfica."
He concluded his remarks by saying: "I had a phone call with Marco Silva, the team's coach; it was a great conversation, and I told him I can't wait to begin."
Benfica has signed El Karouani on a one-season loan deal, with the Portuguese club holding the option to purchase the player at the end of the loan period.
According to the Saudi newspaper "Al-Sharq Al-Awsat," the buyout clause in the loan agreement is valued at approximately 10 million euros.
Meanwhile, Benfica will cover part of the player's salary during the loan season.
