FC Barcelona is working to renew the contracts of several young talents in the squad, led by Egyptian player Hamza Abdel Karim, alongside Xavi Espart and Brian, as the club's management seeks to secure the players' futures and increase the release clauses in their contracts.
According to the Spanish newspaper "Sport," Barcelona's management began negotiations with representatives of the three players about two weeks ago, amid optimism that final agreements could be reached during September.
Barcelona's move comes due to the low value of the current release clauses for these players, which were set during their time in the youth teams or the reserve squad, before their valuations rose significantly following their promotion to the first team.
Hamza Abdel Karim's release clause reaches 150 million euros
The current release clause in Hamza Abdel Karim's contract, the Barcelona forward, stands at 15 million euros, a figure established when the player transferred from Al-Ahly to the Catalan club to join its youth academy.
Barcelona's management believes the current value no longer reflects the player's status, especially after his recent appearances with the first team, alongside his standout performance with the Egyptian national team at the youth World Cup.
"Sport" clarified that Barcelona has proposed raising Hamza Abdel Karim's release clause to 150 million euros, ten times its current value, in a move aimed at protecting the player from interest by European clubs that have begun monitoring his situation.
The newspaper indicated that recent communications have taken place between the club and the player's representatives, and that negotiations are progressing well, with a shared desire for Hamza Abdel Karim to remain at Barcelona in the coming years.
Barcelona's initiative is not limited to Hamza Abdel Karim; the club is also seeking to adjust the release clause in Xavi Espart's contract, which currently approaches 20 million euros, in addition to improving Brian's contract, as he has become part of head coach Hans Flick's first-team plans.
Through this step, Barcelona aims to secure its most prominent young talents, similar to what was previously done with Lamine Yamal, Pau Cubarsí, and Marc Bernal, by raising their release clauses to reflect the club's confidence in their futures.
