Al Ittihad Alexandria Club has obtained the signature of Malik Yasser Abu El-Fotouh, the former Al Ahly player.
Malik Yasser played the second half of last season with the Al Ahly team.
A source from Al Ittihad Alexandria revealed to FilGoal.com: "We have obtained the signature of Malik Yasser, the former Al Ahly basketball player, as part of the reinforcements for the team's ranks for the new season".
He continued: "We are confident in the validity of our position, especially since the player participated in the last six months of last season with Al Ahly".
He explained: "The Egyptian Federation's regulations stipulate the necessity for any player from the university league to return for one season with his club, and the player indeed played the second half of the season with Al Ahly".
He stressed: "If Al Ahly registers the player in the initial list scheduled for the end of the current month, they will then resort to the Players' Affairs Committee to decide between the two clubs".
Al Ittihad lost the Super League final in basketball against Al Ahly last season.
Al Ittihad's board of directors recently made several decisions regarding the basketball team after losing the league to Al Ahly.
Al Ittihad Alexandria announced that Ahmed Omar has taken over as technical director of the men's basketball team, succeeding Ashraf Tawfik.
Omar had previously won the 2024 league title and the Egypt Cup in 2024 and 2025, as well as the 2025 Egyptian Super Cup.
Omar returns again to lead Al Ittihad, assisted by Ayman Sedky as director of the technical staff.
Tarek Wasfi will assume the presidency of the youth sector.
Al Ittihad lost to Al Ahly in the Super League final with a 3-1 aggregate score.
Omar had previously coached Al Ittihad and left its leadership at the beginning of the concluded season after losing the league titles to Al Ahly and finishing fourth in the African League.
