British press reports have revealed a surprise regarding the future of Dutch international Jeremie Frimpong, the right-back for English club Liverpool.
The Dutch star is linked to the Reds by a contract since the summer of 2025, when he joined the team from German side Bayer Leverkusen for £29.5 million.
Barcelona targets signing Jeremie Frimpong from Liverpool
English website "TeamTalk" reported that Jeremie Frimpong is ready to join Barcelona during the January winter transfer window, as Barça wishes to sign the player.
The Dutch international right-back arrived at "Anfield" with a strong reputation after winning the Bundesliga title with Bayer Leverkusen in 2024. However, the player has not managed to leave a significant mark with the Reds, failing to perform well and suffering from injury-related issues.
Frimpong has so far made only 40 appearances for Liverpool's first team, scoring two goals and providing two assists.
Under manager Andoni Iraola's leadership this season, Frimpong started only twice in the Premier League and played just 31 minutes in the Champions League.
Blaugrana aims to sign a right-back in the upcoming summer transfer window, amid rumors of French international Jules Koundé leaving and moving to the Premier League.
The Reds will host Manchester City next Sunday in Matchday 6 of the Premier League, while Blaugrana will welcome their guest Getafe next Saturday.
