Barcelona's official website described its match against Al-Ahly as being against "the most decorated team in the history of African football", which is scheduled to bring the two sides together in the 61st edition of the Joan Gamper Cup.
Al-Ahly will visit Barcelona in the Joan Gamper Cup, in the match scheduled for August 19, as part of both teams' preparations for the new season.
Barcelona faces Al-Ahly
Al-Ahly has joined the list of clubs playing their first Joan Gamper Cup match against Barcelona, becoming the third consecutive team to make its debut.
Italian side Como played the Joan Gamper Cup against Barcelona and lost 5-0, while the Blaugrana faced French side Monaco, with the latter winning 3-0.
Monaco was the last team to make its first appearance in the Joan Gamper Cup and defeat Barcelona.

Barcelona commented on its match against Al-Ahly as follows: "The Egyptian team's participation in this edition also means that the Joan Gamper Cup will, for the first time in its history, feature an African team".
It added: "Not just any team, but the continent's biggest club, as Al-Ahly has won the CAF Champions League 12 times, in addition to 45 Egyptian league titles, making it a true giant in world football".
