Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain clubs are preparing to enter decisive negotiations in the coming days regarding the transfer of Spanish striker Ferran Torres to the French capital, after the player expressed his desire to leave the Camp Nou stronghold and move to the French league.
Spanish newspaper "Sport" said that the negotiations may witness major complications in light of the clear discrepancy between Barcelona's valuation of the player and Paris Saint-Germain's desire to exploit the approaching end of his contract, which ends on June 30, 2027, to obtain a significant reduction in the required price.
Barcelona insists on 65 million euros
The Catalan club is demanding no less than 65 million euros in exchange for relinquishing Torres' services, an amount aimed at financing the signing of one or two strikers to fill the void left by the Spanish player's departure.
Although Barcelona was not willing to sell Ferran before signing a suitable replacement, the player's decision to leave prompted the administration to change its stance and enter into serious negotiations.
Officials at Camp Nou, according to "Sport," believe that the required valuation aligns with current market prices for strikers, especially after the outstanding performance Torres delivered in the last World Cup, which significantly reassessed his market value.
PSG bets on the end of the contract
In contrast, Paris Saint-Germain is not considering approaching the required amount, relying on the fact that the player's contract ends after only one season, which gives it strong leverage in the negotiations.
However, the Parisian club realizes that it will have to submit a serious offer to start talks without straining relations with the Catalan club.
Ferran Torres' current market valuation is around 55 million euros, a figure Paris Saint-Germain could reach through a formula combining a fixed and variable amount, which is the same amount Barcelona paid Manchester City when signing him, meaning full recovery of the investment.
