Barcelona returned to training on Monday morning, with players resuming their sessions despite the heavy rain that marked the start of the week, according to Spanish press reports.

The Spanish newspaper "Mundo Deportivo" reported that Frenkie de Jong was expected to join the rest of the group on the pitch. Indeed, the player went out onto the training ground in the rain but trained alone, performing individual exercises, as did Joan Garcia and Raphinha Dias.

Barcelona receives a morale boost regarding De Jong

The report continued that the players trained as a group at the "Tito Vilanova" stadium (Szczesny, Gavi, Eric Garcia, Gerard Martin, Gabriel Jesus, Brians, and Balde).

The report added that the training session was supervised by Hansi Flick, who is awaiting the players' recovery ahead of the next league match.

The Catalan team will host Getafe next Saturday evening at Camp Nou, as part of the eighth round of the Spanish La Liga championship.

Details of De Jong's injury

De Jong's problem dates back to the World Cup period, where he began feeling discomfort in his knee during the group stage match against Sweden, but he continued playing for the Dutch national team, including featuring for 110 minutes against Morocco in the match that ended with their elimination via penalty shootout.

Subsequent tests conducted in Barcelona revealed a tear in the medial collateral ligament of his right knee.

Ultimately, the player and the club decided to opt for conservative treatment and rule out surgery.
