FC Barcelona clarified on Monday the details of the injury sustained by its player, Pablo Gavi.
Gavi was injured during the Catalan club's match against Elche in the Spanish league on Sunday night.
Barcelona stated in a statement: "Gavi suffered an injury to his right knee, and medical examinations conducted on Monday morning confirmed that it is merely a bruise."
The statement concluded: "He is expected to return to training soon."
After the match, Barcelona manager Hansi Flick spoke about Gavi's injury, saying: "It is a knee injury. We must be patient and wait for the examination results. His condition is slightly better than what was expected after he was injured. After the match, he felt much better, and we will see what happens."
Barcelona achieved a significant victory over Elche, winning 5-0 in the second round of the Spanish league.
Barcelona's five goals were scored by: Raphinha (two goals), Fermín López (two goals), and Karim Adeyemi.
Barcelona won their first three points on their way to defending their Spanish league title.
