Spanish club Barcelona continues its preparations to return to Camp Nou stadium, as the stadium witnesses rapid developments before hosting the Joan Gamper Cup match against Al Ahly.
It is scheduled that Barcelona Club will play its first match on its home ground, Camp Nou, in the new season, on August 19 next, against Al Ahly Club, for the friendly Joan Gamper Cup tournament.
Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo reported that the development works at Camp Nou stadium are ongoing, with two main new developments emerging: the installation of the new grass, along with the start of fixing the glass facades in the area designated for VIP guests.
The report indicated that Barcelona had begun two weeks ago removing the old stadium floor and preparing it, while the process of laying the new hybrid grass began at the beginning of the current week, to be completed during the current and next two weeks, so that the grass has enough time to settle before the Joan Gamper Cup is held.
In a related context, the features of the VIP guests' section, located above the second stand, have begun to appear, after installing most of the glass facades behind the boxes, while the report clarified that this area will not be ready to receive fans at the beginning of the season, as the club plans to open it gradually in stages during the season.
The rest of the stadium development works also continue, as the metal supports for the future roof are nearing completion, while works in the external areas have made significant progress, especially in the sites designated for the club's new store and the restaurants and services area.
Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo concluded that Barcelona has about 4 weeks left to complete more development works, before the team plays its first match on its home ground in its new look.
