External press reports have revealed the intentions of the management of the Spanish club Barcelona towards Hamza Abdel Karim, the youth team player who was recently promoted to the first team.
Hamza Abdel Karim is currently participating in Barcelona's first-team camp in England, during which the Barca played a friendly match against English side Birmingham City, in which the Egyptian striker managed to score two goals.
The British newspaper The Athletic wrote: "The young Egyptian striker, aged 18, scored both of his team's goals against Birmingham after participating in four of his country's five matches at the 2026 World Cup."
It added: "Hamza Abdel Karim plays in the centre-forward position, a position rarely found in the La Masia academy, which rarely produces decisive strikers inside the penalty area."
The report indicated that Abdel Karim is viewed as a promising player in the long term, but the club wants to integrate him into the first team as a substitute, given the current shortage of strikers in the squad of German coach Hansi Flick.
Barcelona will play their next match in an unusual international triple-header in Udine, Italy, where they will face Nottingham Forest and Udinese on Saturday, August 8, with each club playing against the other two teams for 45 minutes.
Barcelona are scheduled to face Al Ahly on August 19 at Camp Nou in Spain for the friendly Joan Gamper Cup, before the start of the official competitions of the upcoming season.
