The Barcelona club spokesperson confirmed that negotiations with Al-Ahly have reached advanced stages regarding playing the friendly Joan Gamper Cup match at Camp Nou stadium.

The spokesperson said, in his statements to Yalla Koura this Saturday morning: "At this stage, what I can say is that Al-Ahly is the closest team to playing the Joan Gamper Cup match on August 19".

The Joan Gamper Cup is held at the beginning of every season, as Barcelona invites one of the world's clubs to play the match in front of its fans before the start of official competitions.

The spokesperson continued: "Barcelona has entered into negotiations with Al-Ahly, and an agreement has already been reached on most of the clauses".

He added: "Despite that, we cannot yet confirm 100% that all details have been completed, and when everything is finished, the club will announce the matter through its official platforms".

Barcelona Club had contracted with Hamza Abdel Karim, the Egyptian national team player, from Al-Ahly on loan last February, before activating the purchase option clause at the end of June, which marked the beginning of relations between the administrations of the two clubs in the recent period.

Barcelona Club had previously come to Cairo in 2007, where it played the Al-Ahly Club centenary match, in the presence of a number of the team's legends, led by Ronaldinho, Lionel Messi, Xavi Hernandez, and Andres Iniesta.
