FC Barcelona continues its frantic search in the current summer transfer window to sign a dedicated striker to bolster the squad, following the failure of its efforts to secure the deal for Julián Álvarez, the Atlético Madrid star.

The position of a dedicated striker is a priority for Barcelona after Robert Lewandowski's departure at the end of last season, followed recently by Ferran Torres.

The Spanish newspaper "Sport" reported that the circle of candidates to reinforce Barcelona's attack has widened, with Monaco player Folarin Balogun, known for the most controversial incident at the World Cup, joining the list.

Balogun participated in the World Cup with the USA and received a red card against Bosnia and Herzegovina in the Round of 32; however, US President Donald Trump intervened, and the dismissal was overturned in a controversial incident.

Citing the French newspaper "L'Équipe," it clarified that Barcelona has recently shown interest in Balogun, joining the race to secure his services, as he is also on the radar of other clubs such as Tottenham and Aston Villa.

Balogun delivered an outstanding season with Monaco, scoring 19 goals in 43 matches across various competitions, and also netted 3 goals in 4 World Cup matches.

Balogun has a contract with Monaco valid until June 2028, meaning the French club is not in a hurry to let him go and hopes to secure a substantial fee for his sale.
