A source inside Barcelona Club revealed the possibility of facing Al-Ahly team in a friendly match next August, as part of the two teams' preparations for the new 2026-2027 season.
Spanish press reports had revealed, during the past hours, the holding of a match between Al-Ahly and Barcelona at "Camp Nou" stadium, the stronghold of the Spanish team.
According to a source in Barcelona Club, for "Yalla Koura", Al-Ahly team is considered the closest option to face Barcelona on next August 19, in the Joan Gamper Cup tournament.
The source - who preferred not to reveal his identity - stressed that there is no official and final agreement, as circulated by the Spanish newspapers, but Al-Ahly team remains the closest to playing this match by 90%.
It is scheduled for Al-Ahly Club to hold a training camp in Spain, from the end of the current month until the middle of next month, in preparation for the new season, whether locally or continentally.
Al-Ahly Club announced, last Tuesday afternoon, the signing of Moroccan coach Hussein Amouta, to lead the team in the next season, instead of Danish coach Jess Thorup.
Al-Ahly team is expected to face many challenges, whether in the league and Egypt Cup competitions, in addition to the African Confederation Cup competitions at the continental level.
