Egyptian star Mohamed Salah, Trabzonspor player, faces a legal dispute in Egypt, after the New Cairo Court issued a decision obligating him to appear in person before it during next September, to take the decisive oath in a lawsuit related to a claim for attorney fees.
The competent civil circuit at the New Cairo Primary Court set the session for September 6, 2026, for Salah to appear in person before the court, in case No. 7826 of 2025, civil full, filed by lawyer Amr Faragallah Morsi Abdel Tawab.
The lawsuit concerns the lawyer’s demand to obligate Mohamed Salah to pay financial dues, which he said represent fees for legal and administrative work, consultations, and judicial files he handled on behalf of the player over the past years.
Why does the judiciary request Mohamed Salah’s attendance?
The court is asking Mohamed Salah to take the “decisive oath” regarding the denial of the lawyer performing the legal and administrative works mentioned in the statement of claim, as well as denying the existence of any sums of money or fees due to him for those works.
The court clarified that Salah’s failure to appear to take the oath, or his refusal to take it without legal justification, may result in him being considered “refusing the oath,” which entails the legal consequences prescribed in such a case.
The court also decided to postpone ruling on expenses and attorney fees until the dispute is finally resolved.
The case stems from a lawsuit filed by the lawyer in September 2025, demanding the value of fees he said were due to him in exchange for legal and administrative work, consultations, and judicial files he handled on behalf of Mohamed Salah.
The lawyer relied, according to the documents submitted to the court, on a general power of attorney in cases issued in 2012, which he said granted him the authority to carry out legal procedures and works related to Salah.
He noted that the power of attorney remained in effect until August 2025, when he was notified of his removal from representing the player.
The lawyer also demanded compensation for material and moral damages he said he suffered as a result of not receiving his dues, in addition to the expenses he incurred while handling the disputed works.
What is the decisive oath?
The decisive oath is a legal means of proof directed by one party to the lawsuit to the other party to settle a specific disputed fact, whereby the party to whom the oath is directed is asked to swear that he is truthful in denying or proving the fact. If the party takes the oath, it produces its legal effect in settling the fact in question. However, if he refuses to take it or fails to appear to take it without an excuse acceptable to the court, he may be considered to have refused it, and the legal consequences that may decisively affect the outcome of the dispute will follow.

Session at a sensitive time
The September 6 session comes at a time that may pose a challenge for Mohamed Salah, as the player is currently preparing for the start of his official career with Trabzonspor in the Turkish league.
Salah was scheduled to play his first match in the competition on August 15 against Kasimpasa, while Trabzonspor is linked to a match against Genclerbirligi on the date set for the court session.
Consequently, Salah must deal with the court’s decision regarding personal attendance, at a time when he is beginning a new stage in his professional career with Trabzonspor.
