Julián Álvarez has returned to feature for Atlético Madrid, following the crisis the player experienced during the recent summer transfer window and his desire to leave the Rojiblancos.
Álvarez had wanted to leave Atlético Madrid and move to Barcelona, but the Spanish capital club categorically refused the transfer, leaving the Argentine international with Atlético in the end.
Álvarez came on as a substitute in Atlético Madrid’s match against Athletic Bilbao, which Atlético lost 3-0 last Saturday in the Spanish league.
Álvarez received support from his teammates at Atlético Madrid after the difficult period the player went through recently.

Atlético Madrid star Marcos Llorente initially spoke about Álvarez, in remarks reported by the newspaper 'Mundo Deportivo': "Álvarez is a really important player for us, and he knows that well. He will gradually return to his level, and the sooner the better, because we need the goals he scores. We must support him so that he is 100% ready soon."
Atlético Madrid defender David Hancko then added: "It is clear that Álvarez played well against Athletic Bilbao, and he wanted to change the result, but facing a defensive block, it is logical that he lost the ball many times. However, he showed great flashes and shot at the goal with his left foot. He is a player capable of making a difference, and I am happy that he stayed with us. The whole team supports him, and we will continue to stand by his side. We need him, and I think he needs us too."
After that, Álvarez’s compatriot and teammate in the Argentine national team and Atlético Madrid, Giuliano Simeone, clarified: "He is a very important player for us. We will always and forever support him until he regains his fitness and helps the team as he did last season."
Atlético Madrid midfielder Pablo Barrios concluded: "We know Julián well, and we know what he is capable of. He had a chance to score today, but he did not take it. We hope he will gradually adapt and help us, because we all know his level. He stayed with us in the end as the transfer window closed. We support him a lot, and we must continue together."
Álvarez had been absent from Atlético Madrid’s training sessions in recent days due to illness, before returning and becoming fit to play normally, coinciding with the end of the saga of his departure from the Rojiblancos.
