Atlético Madrid fans' reactions to Álvarez after his failed move to Barcelona

Via Btolat

Atlético Madrid fans displayed mixed reactions toward Julián Álvarez, the team's striker, following a turbulent summer for the Argentine international.

Álvarez had sought to leave Atlético Madrid amid Barcelona's pursuit of him and their submission of an offer to the Madrid club, but Atlético held firm against their Catalan rivals.

The transfer deal to Barcelona ultimately failed, and Atlético Madrid fans had previously booed the Argentine during the team's first La Liga match of the season.

According to the Spanish newspaper "Sport," Álvarez arrived at training with his teammates and received a mixed reception from Atlético Madrid supporters.

While some fans showed their support, others greeted him with boos; Álvarez was seen driving his car as certain supporters criticized his behavior with jeering chants.

Álvarez is under contract with Atlético Madrid until June 2030. England's Arsenal also pursued signing him, but no agreement was reached on the deal.

Álvarez made his first appearance on August 23 against Villarreal, entering in the second half, where he faced protests from Atlético Madrid fans.

Later, he missed three training sessions last week due to illness and did not participate in the most recent match against Sevilla.
