Omar Assar and Hana Goda's path in the mixed doubles competition included a victory over the Greek mixed doubles pair in the Round of 16 by a score of 3-2, with set scores of 8-11, 11-7, 7-11, 11-6, 11-5. In the quarterfinals, they defeated the Slovenian mixed doubles pair by a score of 3-2, with set scores of 8-11, 11-7, 11-7, 9-11, 11-7. In the semifinals, they beat a French mixed doubles pair by a score of 3-1, with set scores of 11-9, 11-8, 6-11, 11-7.
Egypt's total medal count at the "Taranto 2026" Mediterranean Games has risen to 36 medals of various colors: 11 gold, 12 silver, and 13 bronze.
The Egyptian delegation is competing in 23 sports at the Mediterranean Games: archery, athletics, badminton, 3x3 basketball, boxing, canoe and kayak, equestrian, fencing, aquatic games and short-course swimming, gymnastics, handball, judo, karate, padel, rowing, sailing, shooting, table tennis, volleyball, weightlifting, wrestling, finswimming, and amateur sliding.
Egypt ranks sixth on the list of countries with the most medals in the history of the Mediterranean Games, with a total of 620 medals: 156 gold, 209 silver, and 255 bronze.
