Real Madrid defender Raúl Asencio broke his silence and spoke for the first time after being acquitted of charges related to allegedly sharing sexual videos and images of two girls, one of whom was a minor, explaining that he had gone through an extremely difficult period.
Asencio was cleared of these charges today after both girls confirmed they had acted entirely of their own free will. Asencio had been accused in this case alongside three former players from the Real Madrid academy.
Asencio issued a statement via his official account on the "X" platform, saying: "Finally, after a long period of silence out of respect for the judiciary, which I have always believed in and trusted in its justice, I can say before everyone that I am innocent. I believe it is time to share a few words with you, as I have endured an extremely difficult situation over the past months, and at times I had to witness personal information about me being circulated before the court issued its verdict."

He added: "I accept and respect how the media operates; it is their right to express opinions and report news. However, you must remember that behind every false story published, there is a human being and an entire family suffering from what is being said."
He clarified: "I always trusted in the justice system and believed it would ultimately vindicate me. Today, a decisive and clear verdict was issued, which I received with great calm and satisfaction. I have now turned the page on an important chapter in my life. I do not wish to create further controversy; instead, I prefer to acknowledge those who stood by me during this period and offered their support."
He continued: "I extend my deepest gratitude to my family and friends, as well as to my agent and personal lawyer, and to everyone who supported me during the most challenging times. I also thank Real Madrid and everyone within the club who placed their trust in me, allowing me to continue working normally and enjoy football, which is what I love most in life."
He further stated: "I tried to stay away from the spotlight during the recent period, focusing solely on my work and moving forward. Today, I do so with a sense of peace and assurance. I request all those who spoke about me over the past months to now tell the story with the same level of attention you previously showed."
He added: "I will not look back or engage in further disputes. I close this chapter with full respect, holding my head high and eager to move forward."
Asencio admitted guilt in a separate case involving driving under the influence of alcohol, stating: "I deeply regret what happened, and I take full responsibility. I have learned much from this experience and will never repeat it."
He concluded: "I must look ahead, continue working and developing as a player, and focus on football, which I love most. It is now my turn to speak, and I am in full agreement with my coach, both on and off the pitch. Hala Madrid, without any doubt."
