Arsène Wenger, head of the football development department at the International Football Association "FIFA", issued a strong statement regarding his position on Infantino's recent proposal to privatize the World Cup.
Gianni Infantino was the owner of the idea of allocating profits in the World Cup to private sector investors, which caused severe anger against him from the continental federations.
After that, Infantino canceled his proposal, and despite that, his continuation in the presidency of FIFA has become highly doubtful after the English and Welsh federations decided to withdraw their confidence from him, which indicates the possibility of dragging the rest of the federations regarding this matter.
Arsène Wenger published a statement about those events, reported by the Spanish newspaper "Marca": "The recent events in FIFA require clarification from me because I am the head of the global football development department at FIFA".

He continued: "I also supervise with my team the analysis of match data and the electronic training center affiliated with FIFA and the development of youth education through 60 academies in 60 countries in addition to youth competitions around the world".
He added: "I am also a technical advisor to the International Football Association Board,
I did not participate in this plan and the proposal put forward by Infantino and I learned about the project for the first time through the media".
He concluded: "The decision to withdraw the project was an inevitable necessity and there is no debate about that because I strongly believe in the independence of FIFA which serves our sport with commitment, transparency and integrity".
