Dutch newspaper "Algemeen Dagblad" revealed that Dutch coach Arne Slot rejected an offer to coach Saudi Al Ahli Club, preferring to wait for a new coaching opportunity at club level.
According to the newspaper, Slot, Liverpool's former manager, does not wish to return to coaching at the present time except through a project he deems suitable, which also prompted him to reject the Dutch Football Association's offer to succeed Ronald Koeman in leading the national team after the end of the 2026 World Cup.
The newspaper indicated that Jeddah's Al Ahli entered negotiations with Slot in the past hours to succeed German Matthias Jaissle, who is close to taking over the coaching of English Newcastle United, but the Dutch coach preferred not to accept the offer.
Slot had taken over Liverpool's coaching in the summer of 2024 succeeding German Jürgen Klopp, and led the team to win the English Premier League title in the 2024-2025 season, becoming the first Dutch coach to achieve the "Premier League" title.
Slot is considered one of the most prominent Dutch coaches in recent years, after achieving notable successes with Feyenoord, leading them to win the Dutch league title in the 2022-2023 season, then the Dutch Cup in the following season, in addition to reaching the final of the UEFA Europa Conference League in 2022, before moving to Liverpool.
