Samir Mahmoud Othman, Vice President of the Referees Committee, confirmed that he wished to postpone the launch of the Egyptian League Championship this season, explaining that building a football referee requires 5 or 6 years, urging the fans to be patient.
Othman said in television statements via the "Sada El Balad" channel: "During the past year and a half, the scientific material that the referees were receiving was not as it should be and is not being applied as it should."
He added: "Evidence from last season, this is not the responsibility of the referees alone, it is a shared responsibility between the referees and the foreign persons who give their instructions to the referees, and there is a very great effort that will be exerted."
The Vice President of the Referees Committee continued: "I wished to postpone the start of the league a little, so that we could work more with the referees, and patience must be exercised with the Egyptian referee and there will be a positive and effective element."
He continued: "Controversial refereeing cases must be analyzed, whether in closed rooms or publicly in the sports street, because there are many cases that the fan does not know and we must explain them by presenting the cases."
When asked if next season's top matches will be with Egyptian refereeing? He replied saying: "May God make it easy, and God willing it will be with an Egyptian referee crew, the responsibility is on us and on the referees, and we want the success of the Egyptian League in the new season."
He concluded: "All the amendments to the new refereeing laws that were made in the World Cup will be applied in the Egyptian League in the new season, whether the ten-second period in substitution or the five-second period in playing a goal kick."
